As an artist, I find that some of my best art glass lamps are done in collaboration with a client. Someone who is familiar with my work describes a lamp with an image that’s meaningful to them personally. In these cases, I work closely with them – they’re engaged in every step of the creation. I want to hear them say, “That’s what I had in mind.” We can talk price.

Our dog walker came to be a friend. As a frequent visitor, my work drew her interest. After an exchange of service, creating a lamp that she conceived seemed the best way to express my gratitude. More than dogs, she loves cats. Frolicking under wisteria was her idea of a perfect setting.

When I first began my quest to create a new art medium using powder material , Ismael stepped into a critical role. My new techniques demand a lot of tool building, testing and parts. Repeat this process. Then repeat again. I could not achieve the lamps I’m now creating without Ismael Fernandez. He likes cats. Big cats. So I created The Tiber as a gift for Ismael and his family.
