The best moments in my life, regardless of age, are playtime. Altogether, creating original glass lamps is a hugely rewarding process for me. While I’m creating powder coated glass lamps, time stops and I’ve had nothing but fun. In this category, I’ve gathered those where I just let my funny bone do the steering.

A lamp with an image that relates to an individual sports athletic event: A friend challenged me. A group of sky divers floated into my imagination. Now the fun started. On the face of my lamp, they fall through a particolored hole in the sky. Below, on the back face of my lamp, is a landing zone. Agricultural fields bounded by dark hills on the left and on the horizon, a slender river.
This art glass lamp has seven different layers of powder coated glaze.

On this unique glass art lamp I reveal the energy source that makes frogs suddenly leap and croak ’till dawn. When kids fly around, frogs snatch them out of air like bugs. So frogs are bulging with the exuberance of kids at play. Bight orange eyes bulge above the frog’s body which is splashed in colors of tan, lime and forest green.

Who would come up with this? At Bonita Canyon grade school, awards are given for art and my seven year old took a prize. The composition on Cat Full of Fish is a re-rendering. I used seven separate layers of powder glaze. One for each color. All the fish are in clear glass. Below a deep blue rim filled of clear glass bubbles, now the cat appears inside an aquarium, staring out at us.

The playful projections of a disco mirror ball inspired Delicious. Bands of firecracker red and silver flow through a scramble of colored dots and clear glass eyelets. Gazing through the eyelets reveals the silvery inner surface. This lamp embodies the spirit of dancing lights.

A handcrafted glass creation that projects the joy, surprise, and elation of a kid’s birthday party. Dots frolic around the top and bottom. Colors are subtle gold, firecracker red and clear glass. This lamp celebrates playfulness.

This powder coated lamp, a new art medium on glass, is inspired by the Italian opera character Harlequin His role is that of a light-hearted, nimble servant. The harlequin is a composition of dots and squares in lime green, orange, and clear glass. These shapes collide, bringing mirth to center stage.

Italo Calvino’s whimsical novel Invisible Cities inspired this design. An inky blue sea captures reflections from twin moons. A pale blue sky with clear glass stars and meteors expands above a pair of identical mountains. This lamp projects surrealistic images of an alien planet.
